âœĻ THE GRADITUDE FILTER

Common Traps Others Won’t Warn You About

Traditional study abroad agencies are incentivised by university commissions. Here is the unvarnished truth we tell you over coffee.

ðŸŠĪ

The “Free Agent” Partner Trap

If an agent charges you €0, you are the product. They steer you towards colleges paying 20–30% commission, regardless of poor alumni networks or post-study hiring.

📑

The “MOI Guarantee” Illusion

Just because a college accepts MOI does not mean the Visa Embassy won’t reject your file for lacking IELTS/PTE. We audit both university & visa-level requirements.

ðŸ’ķ

The Blocked Account Blindspot

Putting €11,904 in a blocked account is only step one. What happens when Munich, Dublin, or Amsterdam rents hit €750/month? We map your real runway beforehand.

ANSWERS & CLARITY

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really study for €0 tuition in Germany?

Yes. Almost all public universities in 15 out of 16 German federal states do not charge tuition fees for international students, only a semester contribution of €150–€350 which covers public transport. You only need to fund your living expenses via a blocked account (∼€11,904/year).

Is Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter sufficient without IELTS?

While several universities in the UK, France, and Germany accept an English Medium of Instruction letter from your undergraduate college, visa officers have discretion. We advise students on which exact universities and embassies have 100% MOI track records versus when giving an IELTS/Duolingo exam protects your visa approval.

How do part-time jobs work across Europe?

In Germany, international students can work 140 full days or 280 half days per year at €12.41+/hr. In the Netherlands, it is 16 hrs/wk; in Ireland, 20 hrs/wk during term and 40 hrs/wk during holidays (€12.70+/hr); in Finland, up to 30 hrs/wk. Students routinely cover 70–100% of their monthly living costs through student jobs.

How is Graditude different from regular study abroad consultancies?

We do not sell you college seats for university commission. Our mentors are professionals and alumni who have studied and worked abroad in Europe and North America. We provide honest feedback, high-touch SOP reviews, realistic budget calculations, and post-arrival networking.
